How do I store loose-leaf tea?
Tea leaves easily absorb moisture and odors and are also sensitive to heat and light. Keep your tea out of direct sunlight and in a cool environment. Do not store in the refrigerator or in a spice cabinet. Avoid storing tea in translucent glass containers. Instead, select containers that are opaque, double sealed and airtight. I prefer the stainless steel, Airscape brand coffee and tea storage container. If you choose to keep your tea in a food-grade bag (which most specialty tea purveyors package tea in), be sure to remove excess air and close the package completely.
