Flavored with bergamot, a citrus fruit with a wonderful aroma and a bitter taste, this tea is a classic. It is the number one seller of flavored teas in the world.
Many Earl Grey teas are made with Indian black tea; however, this tea is made with Chinese black tea, which our Tea Sommelier finds softer, sweeter, and less astringent. You may enjoy with cream or sugar, but we recommend you first try it without those accompaniments.
Tales of Earl Grey tea date back to the 1830s. Legend has it, this tea was a gift to a British Lord from Chinese Mandarins. The only problem with that story is the disagreement about the origins of bergamot, which may have originated in Mediterranean countries and not Southeast Asia.
