Mellow and earthy, rooibos is frequently used as a foundation to blend with fruits, herbs, and nuts. Add a touch to a favorite herbal blend for more body or enjoy it with only cream and sugar. (Yeild: 22-24 cups per 2 oz.)
Ingredients: organic rooibos
1 rounded tsp. / 8 oz. water at 212° F for 4-10 minutes
Rooibos (Aspalathus linearis) is also known as “Bush Tea” or “Red Bush Tea”. It is in the legume family and has a broom like structure.
The rooibos plant is grown only in a small part of the western coast of South Africa. Attempts to cultivate it outside of South Africa have all failed due to a symbiotic relationship with local micro-organisms.
Rooibos has been cultivated for centuries; first by the local people, then by Dutch settlers who drank it as an alternative to black tea.
